Job Description

PATH Uganda is hiring a skilled Communications Officer to join our dynamic team in Kampala. This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional to support health advocacy and raise awareness about critical public health programmes across Uganda.

As a Communications Officer at PATH, you will play a vital role in shaping the narrative around our health interventions. You will develop compelling content that highlights our impact, engages diverse audiences, and supports the mission of improving health outcomes in Ugandan communities.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies for PATH's health programmes in Uganda.
  • Write, edit, and produce high-quality communication materials including success stories, press releases, blog posts, and reports.
  • Manage and grow PATH Uganda's social media presence (Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, etc.) with engaging, relevant content.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national media houses and journalists.
  • Produce multimedia content such as photos, short videos, and infographics to tell our story effectively.
  • Maintain and update content on the PATH website and other digital platforms.
  • Support the planning and execution of events, launches, and campaigns.
  • Facilitate internal communications to keep staff informed and aligned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in a communications role, preferably within the NGO, health, or development sector in Uganda.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English.
  • Strong proficiency with digital communication tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
  • Experience in media relations and working with Ugandan press.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • A passion for public health and community development is a strong advantage.
