Job Description

Job Summary

The Child Protection Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring child protection programmes in Arua and surrounding areas. You will work directly with communities, local partners, and government structures to create a protective environment for children.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Implement and monitor child protection project activities in line with World Vision and donor standards.
  • Conduct community sensitisation and awareness campaigns on child rights, protection issues, and positive parenting.
  • Manage child protection cases through proper identification, documentation, referral, and follow-up.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with local government, community-based organisations, and other stakeholders.
  • Build the capacity of community volunteers, child protection committees, and local partners.
  • Prepare timely and accurate activity reports and documentation.
  • Participate in district-level child protection coordination meetings and networks.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Law, Development Studies, or a related field from a recognised university.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in child protection programming, preferably with an INGO in Uganda.
  • Proven experience in community mobilisation, case management, and working with local government structures.
  • Strong understanding of the Ugandan child protection system and legal framework.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and reporting skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. Proficiency in local languages spoken in the West Nile region (e.g., Lugbara, Kakwa) is a significant asset.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit is an added advantage.
