Lead a Leading Financial Institution in Uganda

Opportunity Bank Uganda, a mission-driven financial services provider, is seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organisation in Kampala. This is a senior executive role for a leader passionate about driving financial inclusion and transforming lives across Uganda.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

As the CEO, you will provide overall strategic direction to ensure the Bank's growth, sustainability, and social impact. Your primary focus will be to increase the reach and transformation of our operations to serve our communities effectively.

• Provide leadership, insight, and counsel to the Board of Directors and shareholders on all Bank affairs.
• Develop and implement corporate policies, business strategies, and measurable objectives to drive growth and competitive edge.
• Oversee business development initiatives to drastically increase the number of borrowing customers and optimise the Bank's impact.
• Champion a customer-centric culture and ensure service excellence as a key market differentiator.
• Build, inspire, and manage a high-performance team, fostering employee retention and a positive organisational culture.
• Establish and manage robust risk management and compliance frameworks in line with Ugandan banking regulations.
• Act as the principal representative of the Bank with media, government agencies, investors, donors, and strategic partners.
• Champion the Bank's values, promoting gender equity, staff empowerment, and community transformation.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• A Master's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, with at least 6 years at board or senior management level in a Retail Bank or similar financial institution in Uganda or the region.
• Expansive knowledge of retail banking operations, microfinance products, Ugandan banking regulations, and relevant laws.
• Proven demonstrable commitment to a mission-driven agenda focused on social and economic development.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written).

• Proven ability in coaching, mentoring, and managing team performance.
