Opportunity Bank Uganda, a leading microfinance and financial services institution, is seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our mission-driven organisation. This is a high-impact executive role based in Kampala, responsible for providing overall direction, ensuring sustainability, and transforming the Bank's operations to serve communities across Uganda.

About the Role:

As the CEO, you will be the principal leader, driving the Bank's strategy to maximise reach and impact. Your core mandate will be to drastically increase the number of customers accessing loans while ensuring optimal financial performance and service excellence. You will report directly to the Board of Directors and shareholders, providing crucial insight and counsel on all Bank affairs.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision, translating strategy into measurable objectives and actionable plans.
  • Drive business development and growth, proactively identifying new opportunities to ensure a competitive edge in Uganda's financial sector.
  • Champion a customer-centric culture, ensuring high levels of service excellence as a key market differentiator.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of all corporate policies, strategies, and risk management frameworks.
  • Build, inspire, and lead a high-performance team, fostering a culture of empowerment, integrity, and employee retention.
  • Act as the primary representative of the Bank with the media, government agencies, investors, donors, and strategic partners.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all banking regulations, Ugandan laws, and internal policies.
  • Champion the Bank's values and transformational agenda, promoting gender equity and social impact within staff and client communities.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • A Master's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, with at least 6 years at Board or senior management level in a Retail Bank or similar financial institution.
  • Expansive knowledge of retail banking operations, microfinance products, Ugandan banking regulations, and relevant laws.
  • Proven demonstrable commitment to a mission-driven, social impact agenda.
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written.

Personal Skills & Abilities:

We are looking for a leader with strong emotional intelligence, superb communication and relationship-building skills, and a collaborative, proactive approach. The ideal candidate will be a strategic problem-solver, a coach and mentor to their team, and a responsive, self-driven individual.

How to Apply:
