Systems and Research Associate Job in Gulu, Uganda - Kijani Forestry

Kijani Forestry, a leading sustainable forestry company in Uganda, is hiring a Systems and Research Associate to join our team in Gulu. This is an exciting full-time opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to support our data management, research, and operational systems, contributing directly to sustainable forestry and community development in Northern Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the company's data collection and management systems.
• Conduct field and desk research to support forestry operations and sustainability projects.
• Analyse data and prepare reports on forest growth, carbon sequestration, and environmental impact.
• Support the development and implementation of new operational and monitoring systems.
• Collaborate with field teams in Gulu and surrounding districts to ensure accurate data capture.
• Assist in preparing documentation for certifications and stakeholder reports.
• Troubleshoot and provide user support for field data collection tools and software.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in data management, research, or systems support. Experience in the forestry or agricultural sector is a strong advantage.
• Strong skills in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R) and familiarity with mobile data collection tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Luo or other local languages spoken in Gulu is beneficial.
• Must be willing to be based in Gulu and conduct occasional field visits.
