Systems and Research Associate Job in Gulu, Uganda - Kijani Forestry

Kijani Forestry, a leading sustainable forestry company in Uganda, is seeking a dedicated Systems and Research Associate to join our team in Gulu. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to contribute to impactful environmental work in Northern Uganda.

About the Role:
As a Systems and Research Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting our forestry operations through data management, research coordination, and system optimisation. You will work closely with our field and management teams to ensure efficient processes and data-driven decision-making for our sustainable forestry projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain forestry data collection systems and databases
• Conduct research to support sustainable forestry practices and project development
• Analyse field data and prepare reports for management and stakeholders
• Support the implementation and troubleshooting of operational software and tools
• Coordinate with field teams in Gulu and surrounding areas to ensure data accuracy
• Assist in monitoring and evaluation of forestry projects and their impact
• Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and research protocols

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years experience in data management, research, or systems support role
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, GIS software, statistical packages)
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages in Northern Uganda is an advantage
• Passion for environmental conservation and sustainable development
