We are dedicated to creating lasting environmental impact and sustainable livelihoods through innovative restoration projects. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Restoration Design Associate to join our team in Gulu and contribute to our mission of restoring Uganda's vital ecosystems.

About the Role
As a Restoration Design Associate, you will play a key role in planning and designing ecological restoration projects in Northern Uganda. You will work closely with our field teams, local communities, and technical experts to develop practical and effective restoration strategies that align with our environmental goals and support community development.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct site assessments and ecological surveys in project areas within the Gulu region.
  • Assist in the design and technical planning of tree planting and forest landscape restoration (FLR) projects.
  • Prepare detailed project maps, plans, and design documents using GIS software and other tools.
  • Collaborate with community mobilisers to integrate local knowledge and needs into project designs.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of restoration activities to ensure project success and impact.
  • Contribute to reporting and documentation for project stakeholders and donors.
  • Work with the procurement team to source quality seedlings and other necessary inputs.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of practical experience in forestry, agroforestry, or landscape restoration work in Uganda.
  • Strong skills in GIS mapping (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Luo or other local languages in Northern Uganda is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in rural field settings and collaborate with diverse teams and communities.
  • A valid motorcycle riding permit (Class A) is highly desirable for field mobility.

What We Offer

  • A meaningful career contributing to environmental conservation and climate change mitigation in Uganda.
  • A competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive health insurance.
  • Opportunities for professional training and career growth within a dynamic organisation.
  • A supportive and mission-driven work environment.

If you are a motivated professional with a passion for the environment and sustainable development, we encourage you to apply. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in Uganda's landscape and communities.
