Systems and Research Associate Job in Gulu, Uganda | Kijani Forestry

Kijani Forestry, a leader in sustainable forestry and agroforestry in Uganda, is seeking a dedicated Systems and Research Associate to join our team in Gulu. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to contribute to impactful environmental projects in Northern Uganda.

About the Role:
As a Systems and Research Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting our data management, research initiatives, and operational systems. You will work closely with our forestry and research teams to ensure efficient processes and generate valuable insights for our sustainable forestry projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain organisational data systems and databases.
• Support field research activities, including data collection, entry, and analysis for forestry projects.
• Assist in the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks.
• Prepare reports and visualisations based on research findings.
• Troubleshoot and provide technical support for internal software and hardware systems.
• Collaborate with team members in Gulu and other regions to streamline operations.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organisational standards.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Proven experience (1-2 years) in data management, research, or systems support is an advantage.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and data analysis tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Knowledge of the local context in Northern Uganda, particularly Gulu, is highly desirable.
• A passion for environmental conservation, forestry, or sustainable development.
