Shop Assistant Job in Jinja - Retail Sales Position at Yalelo Uganda

Yalelo Uganda, a leading aquaculture and fresh fish producer, is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Shop Assistant to join our retail team in Jinja. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about sales, customer service, and the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector in Uganda.

About the Role:
As a Shop Assistant, you will be the face of our retail outlet, responsible for ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers. You will play a key role in driving sales, maintaining shop presentation, and upholding Yalelo's reputation for quality and service.

Key Responsibilities:
• Greet customers warmly and provide excellent, knowledgeable customer service.
• Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked shop floor and display areas.
• Provide product information and promote Yalelo's range of fresh fish and seafood products.
• Assist with receiving, checking, and arranging new stock deliveries.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.
• Achieve daily and weekly sales targets as set by the Shop Supervisor.
• Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and hygiene standards in the shop.

Requirements & Qualifications:
• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent; A' Level is an added advantage.
• Proven experience in a retail, shop assistant, or customer service role is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic numeracy skills and comfort handling cash transactions.
• Honesty, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work in a team and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
