Senior Manager, Public Policy & Sustainability Job at Diageo Uganda

Diageo, a global leader in beverage alcohol, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager for Public Policy & Sustainability to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. This is a senior leadership role where you will be at the forefront of shaping a positive societal and environmental impact while ensuring our business thrives in alignment with Ugandan regulations and global best practices.

About the Role


You will lead Diageo's public policy advocacy and sustainability agenda for Uganda. Your work will directly contribute to our commitment to creating a more inclusive and sustainable world, focusing on local priorities such as water stewardship, community development, and responsible consumption. You will be the key liaison between Diageo, government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities & Duties



  • Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability and public policy strategies for Diageo in Uganda.

  • Lead engagement with Ugandan government agencies, policymakers, and regulatory bodies on key industry issues.

  • Drive Diageo's corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community investment initiatives across the country.

  • Ensure all operations comply with local Ugandan environmental, social, and governance (ESG) regulations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local partners, industry associations, and civil society groups.

  • Monitor the policy landscape in Uganda and advise the business on emerging risks and opportunities.

  • Lead reporting on sustainability metrics and progress towards our global Society 2030: Spirit of Progress goals.

Requirements & Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Environmental Science, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in sustainability, corporate affairs, public policy, or government relations, preferably within Uganda or the East African region.

  • Deep understanding of the Ugandan policy-making environment and sustainability challenges.

  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Passion for sustainability and creating shared value for communities in Uganda.
