Job Description

PATH Uganda is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Manager for Global Health Security (GHS) to join our team in Uganda. This is a senior-level opportunity to play a critical role in strengthening Uganda's public health systems and protecting communities from infectious disease threats.

About PATH Uganda:

PATH is a global nonprofit organisation dedicated to achieving health equity. With over 40 years of experience, we forge multisector partnerships and develop innovative solutions to the world's most pressing health challenges. Our work in Uganda focuses on making lifesaving vaccines and health interventions widely available.

Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, Global Health Security, will provide technical and programmatic leadership to support the implementation of Uganda's Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) and related initiatives. You will work closely with the Uganda Ministry of Health, other government agencies, and partners to build national capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to outbreaks and public health emergencies.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide technical and programmatic support for the Uganda GHS portfolio, including GHSA implementation.
  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Health and partners to strengthen national systems for disease surveillance, outbreak response, and laboratory networks.
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of GHS strategies and workplans in Uganda.
  • Offer technical assistance to government and partners on global health security priorities.
  • Lead the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of GHS activities and outcomes.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and documentation.
  • Represent PATH at national meetings, workshops, and technical working groups.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in public health, with a focus on infectious diseases, outbreak response, or health security.
  • Proven experience working directly with the Uganda Ministry of Health and other government agencies.
  • Strong technical skills in epidemiology, surveillance systems, outbreak investigation, and/or laboratory strengthening.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of local Ugandan languages (e.g., Luganda, Runyankole) is a strong asset.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates should submit their applications through the official PATH careers portal. This is a rewarding opportunity for a senior public health professional to contribute significantly to Uganda's health security. Apply today to join a leading global health organisation.

PATH is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
