dfcu Bank, a leading financial institution in Uganda, is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Legal Manager to specialise in Credit. This is a senior-level opportunity for a legal professional to play a critical role in managing the bank's credit-related legal risks and ensuring compliance within Uganda's financial sector.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Provide expert legal advice and support on all credit transactions, including corporate lending, project finance, and secured lending.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex credit agreements, security documents, and other financing instruments in line with Ugandan law.
• Manage and mitigate legal risks associated with the bank's credit portfolio.
• Oversee the perfection of securities and ensure all credit documentation is legally sound and enforceable in Ugandan courts.
• Liaise with external lawyers, regulators, and other stakeholders on credit-related legal matters.
• Keep abreast of and advise on changes in Ugandan laws and regulations affecting banking and credit.
• Provide training to business units on legal aspects of credit and risk management.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognised university. A Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice is essential.
• Must be an enrolled Advocate of the High Court of Uganda with a valid practising certificate.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years specialising in banking, finance, or credit law within Uganda.
• Proven track record in drafting and negotiating complex finance documents under Ugandan law.
• In-depth knowledge of the Financial Institutions Act, Companies Act, and other relevant Ugandan legislation.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
