Job Description
National Water & Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Uganda's leading water utility, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager for IT Systems Administration to join our team at the Head Office in Nakasero, Kampala. This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our critical IT infrastructure.
About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Director of IT, you will lead the strategic planning, acquisition, deployment, and management of the Corporation's computer and information systems. Your primary goal is to ensure maximum system availability, robust IT security, and seamless business continuity to support NWSC's mission of providing water and sewerage services to the nation.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
* Develop and implement strategies for the cost-effective and proactive management of all IT systems and infrastructure.
* Oversee the installation, configuration, deployment, and administration of servers, networks, and enterprise software.
* Ensure strict compliance with the Corporation's IT policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Design and maintain comprehensive IT security protocols to protect corporate data and systems from threats.
* Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning to minimise operational downtime.
* Manage and mentor the systems administration team, providing effective user support and technical guidance.
* Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for system improvements and upgrades.
* Prepare and manage the IT systems budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
Requirements & Qualifications:
* A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., MCSE, CISSP, ITIL) will be an added advantage.
* Minimum of 5-7 years of proven experience in IT systems administration, with at least 3 years in a senior management or team leadership role.
* Extensive hands-on experience with server management (Windows/Linux), network administration, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
* In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, data protection, and business continuity planning.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
