This is a senior leadership role where you will be responsible for safeguarding the bank's credit portfolio and ensuring sustainable growth within defined risk parameters.

About the Role

As the Senior Manager, Credit Risk, you will lead the development and implementation of the bank's comprehensive credit risk management framework. You will play a critical role in shaping credit policies, enhancing procedures, and overseeing systems to maintain a healthy and profitable loan book in the Ugandan market. This position reports directly to senior management and offers a significant opportunity to influence the bank's strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Develop, implement, and oversee the bank's entire credit risk management framework, including policies and procedures.
• Lead and mentor a team of credit risk analysts and professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Conduct thorough credit risk assessments for complex banking products and large exposures.
• Monitor the overall credit portfolio performance, identifying early warning signs and recommending corrective actions.
• Design and execute regular stress testing scenarios to evaluate portfolio resilience under adverse economic conditions.
• Prepare detailed credit risk reports for senior management, the Board of Directors, and regulatory bodies like the Bank of Uganda.
• Ensure full compliance with all local regulatory requirements and international best practices in credit risk.
• Provide expert guidance and approval on high-value or high-risk credit decisions.
• Continuously review and enhance credit scoring models and risk rating systems.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, FRM) is a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in credit risk management within the banking or financial services sector in Uganda.
• Proven experience in a leadership role, managing a team of risk professionals.
• In-depth knowledge of credit analysis, portfolio management, and regulatory reporting standards.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex risk concepts to diverse audiences.
• High level of integrity and professional ethics.
