Senior Accountant – Verification Job at Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Entebbe

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Accountant – Verification to join their dynamic finance team in Entebbe. This is a senior-level opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity and compliance within Uganda's leading aviation regulatory body.

As a Senior Accountant – Verification, you will be responsible for overseeing and validating financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, and upholding the highest standards of accountability. You will work in a professional environment that manages Entebbe International Airport and 13 other aerodromes across Uganda, adhering to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
• Conduct thorough verification and reconciliation of financial statements, invoices, and payment vouchers.
• Ensure all accounting records and transactions comply with UCAA policies, national regulations, and international standards.
• Lead the verification of procurement processes and contract payments for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare detailed verification reports and present findings to management.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff within the verification unit.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
• Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard organisational assets.
• Analyse financial data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.

Requirements & Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration (Accounting option) from a recognised institution.
• Full professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA).
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in a large corporate or government agency.
• Proven experience in financial verification, auditing, or forensic accounting.
• Impeccable integrity and a strong ethical foundation.
• Excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
