Research Officer - Value Chains Job at Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in Kampala
Job Description
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MFPED) is seeking a qualified and experienced Research Officer to join our team in Kampala. This is a critical role focused on analysing and strengthening value chains to support Uganda's economic development agenda. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on priority agricultural and industrial value chains in Uganda.
- Collect, process, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data related to value chain performance, constraints, and opportunities.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and presentations on research findings for senior management and stakeholders.
- Support the development and monitoring of interventions aimed at enhancing value chain efficiency, competitiveness, and inclusiveness.
- Collaborate with other government agencies, private sector players, and development partners on value chain initiatives.
- Stay updated on global and regional trends in value chain development and their implications for Uganda.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master's degree is a strong advantage.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in research, data analysis, or value chain development, preferably within the public sector or a reputable research institution in Uganda.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., STATA, SPSS, R) and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- A good understanding of Uganda's economic structure, particularly the agriculture and industry sectors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic government environment.
