Sightsavers, an international non-governmental organisation working to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote disability rights, is seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator to join their team in Uganda. About Sightsavers
Sightsavers has been working in Uganda for over 60 years, partnering with government, civil society organisations, and communities to implement inclusive eye health programmes and promote disability inclusion. Our work aligns with Uganda's National Development Plan and Vision 2040, focusing on sustainable development that leaves no one behind.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor project activities to ensure timely implementation according to work plans
- Liaise with district local governments, health facilities, and community organisations
- Prepare regular project reports for donors and stakeholders
- Monitor project budgets and ensure efficient use of resources
- Support capacity building of partner organisations and community volunteers
- Ensure project activities are inclusive and accessible to persons with disabilities
- Document lessons learned and best practices for programme improvement
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in project coordination with an NGO in Uganda
- Proven experience working with district local government structures
- Strong understanding of Uganda's health and disability sector
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and at least one local language
- Willingness to travel frequently to project districts
- Experience with donor reporting requirements (DFID, USAID, etc.) is an advantage
