Job Description

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Program Manager to lead our Infectious Diseases portfolio in Uganda. This is a senior-level opportunity to make a significant impact on public health outcomes across the country, focusing on critical programmes for HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis (TB).

About the Role


Based in our Kampala office, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the design, implementation, and evaluation of CHAI's infectious disease programmes. You will work closely with key stakeholders, including the Uganda Ministry of Health and other partners, to strengthen health systems and improve service delivery.

Key Responsibilities



  • Provide overall leadership and management for CHAI's infectious diseases portfolio in Uganda.

  • Lead the design, planning, and implementation of high-impact programmes for HIV/AIDS, malaria, and TB.

  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with government partners, especially the Uganda Ministry of Health, donors, and other stakeholders.

  • Oversee programme monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) to track progress and ensure accountability.

  • Manage and mentor a team of programme staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  • Prepare high-quality reports, analyses, and presentations for internal and external audiences.

  • Contribute to new programme development and resource mobilisation efforts.

Qualifications and Experience Required



  • A Master's degree in Public Health, International Development, or a closely related field is mandatory.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in global health programme management, preferably within Uganda or the East African region.

  • Proven expertise in managing infectious disease programmes (HIV, malaria, TB) is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated experience working with or within the Uganda Ministry of Health is a strong advantage.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities in English.

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
