Job Description
TotalEnergies EP Uganda is seeking an experienced and dedicated Area Leader for the Oil Treatment Unit to join our dynamic team in Uganda. This is a regular, full-time position offering a unique opportunity to contribute to Uganda's growing energy sector and work on one of the country's most significant industrial projects.
As the Area Leader – Oil Treatment Unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our oil treatment facilities. You will be responsible for leading a team of technicians and engineers, overseeing daily operations, and implementing best practices in process safety and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the daily operations of the Oil Treatment Unit (OTU) within the Tilenga project area
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, HSE standards, and environmental regulations in Uganda
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of operations technicians and engineers
• Optimise plant performance, monitor key process parameters, and implement efficiency improvements
• Coordinate maintenance activities and shutdown planning with maintenance and engineering departments
• Prepare and manage operational budgets, reports, and performance metrics
• Implement and enforce operating procedures in line with TotalEnergies global standards
• Troubleshoot operational issues and lead incident investigations when required
• Collaborate with other department leaders to achieve overall production targets
Requirements & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in oil and gas operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
• Proven experience in oil treatment processes, separation, and crude oil stabilisation
• Strong knowledge of HSE management systems and process safety standards
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills
• Experience working in multicultural environments, preferably within East Africa
• Valid certifications in relevant operational safety courses
