Join the Uganda Red Cross Society as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist in Mbarara
The Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS), a leading humanitarian organisation within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist to be based in Mbarara. This is a pivotal role within our Western Region operations, focusing on enhancing the impact and effectiveness of our life-saving emergency response, health services, and community development programmes.
Job Purpose
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive M&E systems. Your work will ensure our programmes deliver measurable results, provide critical data for decision-making, and demonstrate accountability to the communities we serve and our donors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust M&E frameworks, plans, and data collection tools for various programmes.
- Conduct regular field monitoring visits across the Western Region to track programme progress and outcomes.
- Collect, manage, analyse, and interpret both qualitative and quantitative programme data.
- Prepare high-quality M&E reports, dashboards, and presentations for management, donors, and stakeholders.
- Build the capacity of URCS staff and volunteers in M&E methodologies and data management practices.
- Ensure the highest standards of data quality, integrity, and ethical handling.
- Lead or support programme evaluations, assessments, and operational research.
- Document lessons learned, success stories, and best practices for organisational learning.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- A Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector in Uganda.
- Strong expertise in data analysis using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, or advanced Excel).
- Practical knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) and knowledge of local languages spoken in Western Uganda (e.g., Runyankole/Rukiga) is a strong requirement.
