In Uganda, we implement long-term development programmes and emergency relief interventions focused on child wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive child protection policies and programmes tailored to the Ugandan context.
- Build the capacity of World Vision staff, local partners, and community structures on national and international child protection standards.
- Lead the monitoring, documentation, and reporting of child protection incidents and response mechanisms.
- Advocate for children's rights at national, district, and community levels with government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate effectively with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, police, and other child protection actors in Uganda.
- Strengthen case management systems for vulnerable children and ensure proper referral pathways.
- Provide technical guidance on child protection integration across all World Vision Uganda programmes.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Social Work, Law, Development Studies, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive professional experience in child protection programming, preferably within Uganda or the East African region.
- In-depth knowledge of international child protection frameworks (e.g., UNCRC) and Uganda's Children Act.
- Proven strong training, facilitation, and capacity-building skills for diverse audiences.
- Hands-on experience with child protection information management systems (CPIMS) or other case management systems.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and networking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multi-faith environment.
