Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist Job Opportunity at World Vision International Uganda

World Vision International Uganda is seeking a qualified and experienced Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist to join our team in Mbale, Eastern Uganda. This is a fixed-term, full-time position where you will play a critical role in strengthening evidence-based programming and ensuring the impact of our development projects in the region. In Uganda, we implement long-term development programmes and humanitarian assistance across the country.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks, systems, and tools for projects in Eastern Uganda.
  • Lead data collection, analysis, and interpretation to track project performance and impact.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for management, donors, and stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Support the planning and execution of project evaluations, assessments, and learning activities.
  • Build the M&E capacity of project staff and local partners through training and mentorship.
  • Ensure data quality assurance and promote the utilisation of M&E findings for strategic decision-making and programme adaptation.
  • Manage databases and utilise statistical software for effective data management and analysis.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A Master's degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in monitoring and evaluation within the development or humanitarian sector in Uganda.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R) and data management platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with major donor reporting requirements (e.g., USAID, UN, EU).
  • Ability to build capacity and train teams in M&E methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
