Job Description

UN Women Uganda is seeking a qualified and experienced Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to join our team in Kampala. This is a key role responsible for leading the development and implementation of comprehensive M&E frameworks for our gender equality and women's empowerment programmes across Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems, tools, and databases for UN Women Uganda programmes.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to project sites to track progress, verify data, and assess the impact of interventions.
  • Prepare high-quality quarterly, bi-annual, and annual progress reports for management, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Build the capacity of implementing partners and staff on gender-responsive M&E methodologies, data collection, and reporting.
  • Analyse programme data using statistical software to measure outcomes, identify trends, and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Ensure all M&E activities align with UN Women's global standards and Uganda's national development frameworks.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably within the development or NGO sector in Uganda.
  • Demonstrated experience with gender-responsive M&E systems and a strong understanding of gender equality principles.
  • High proficiency in data analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, R, or advanced Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in capacity building with local partners.
  • Familiarity with the Ugandan context and development landscape is highly desirable.
