MEAL Officer Job Opportunity at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) - Kampala
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-level professional to contribute to meaningful development projects and enhance organisational learning within a leading international NGO.
Job Summary
As a MEAL Officer, you will play a crucial role in assisting project teams to develop, implement, and maintain effective MEAL systems. You will be responsible for supporting all MEAL activities, including data collection, analysis, reporting, and contributing to evaluations that drive program improvement and accountability.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of robust MEAL systems, frameworks, and data collection tools for various projects.
- Conduct data collection, perform rigorous analysis, and prepare comprehensive reports to track project progress and impact.
- Support the planning and execution of project evaluations, assessments, and other learning activities to measure outcomes.
- Build the capacity of project staff and local partners in MEAL principles, tools, and best practices.
- Document and share lessons learned, success stories, and best practices to foster organisational learning.
- Support project teams in using MEAL data for evidence-based decision-making and continuous program improvement.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelorโs degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in MEAL, preferably with an international NGO in Uganda or the East African region.
- Strong understanding of MEAL concepts, methodologies, and tools.
- Proven skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel for data management.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 30% of the time to field locations within Uganda.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience working on development programs in Uganda or East Africa.
- Familiarity with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) policies, procedures, and reporting systems.
- Experience with projects funded by US Government agencies (e.g., USAID).
