Mechanical Technician Jobs in Butembe-Buikwe (02 Vacancies) - Yalelo Uganda

Yalelo Uganda, a leader in aquaculture and fish farming, is seeking two (2) skilled and dedicated Mechanical Technicians to join our dynamic engineering team in Butembe-Buikwe. This is an excellent full-time opportunity for qualified technicians to apply their expertise in a growing industry critical to Uganda's food security and economy.

As a Mechanical Technician at Yalelo Uganda, you will play a vital role in ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of our mechanical systems and equipment. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery used in our aquaculture operations, contributing directly to our production success.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on various mechanical equipment, including pumps, aerators, filtration systems, and generators.
• Diagnose mechanical faults, troubleshoot issues, and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
• Install, commission, and test new mechanical equipment and systems.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, and spare parts inventory.
• Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with the wider engineering and production teams to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Proven hands-on experience (2+ years) as a Mechanical Technician, preferably in a manufacturing, production, or agro-processing environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.
• Ability to use a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and hygiene.
• Willingness to work in Butembe-Buikwe and adapt to a dynamic work schedule.
