Lake Operations Supervisor Job at Yalelo Uganda in Butembe-Buikwe

Yalelo Uganda, a leader in aquaculture and fish farming, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lake Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Butembe-Buikwe. This is a full-time, senior-level position within our Lake Operations department, crucial for maintaining our high standards of fish production and farm management on Lake Victoria.

As a Lake Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily activities on our aquaculture sites, ensuring efficient operations, and leading a team of field staff. This role is perfect for a hands-on professional with a strong background in fisheries, aquaculture, or lake-based operations who is ready to take on a leadership challenge.

Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and coordinate all daily lake operations activities at the Butembe-Buikwe site.
• Lead, train, and manage a team of lake operations staff to achieve production targets.
• Ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fish health, feeding, and cage management.
• Monitor water quality parameters and fish behaviour, reporting any irregularities.
• Oversee the maintenance of cages, boats, and other aquaculture equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of stock, feed, and daily operational logs.
• Implement and enforce all safety and biosecurity protocols to protect both staff and stock.
• Collaborate with other departments like Logistics and Processing to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements:
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in lake-based operations, fisheries, or aquaculture.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
• Proven ability to work in a challenging outdoor environment and on the water.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to farm management.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of the Lake Victoria region and its dynamics is a strong advantage.
