Aquaculture Supervisor Job in Butembe-Buikwe, Uganda - Lake Operations

Yalelo Uganda, a leading aquaculture and fish farming enterprise, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Aquaculture Supervisor to join our Lake Operations team in Butembe-Buikwe. About the Role:
As an Aquaculture Supervisor (ABW-Supervisor), you will be responsible for overseeing daily lake-based operations. You will ensure efficient production processes, maintain high standards of fish health and welfare, and lead a team of operations staff. Your work will directly contribute to Yalelo's mission of providing high-quality, affordable fish protein to Uganda and the region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate daily aquaculture and lake farming activities.
• Monitor fish health, feeding schedules, and growth performance.
• Ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
• Manage and train a team of lake operations personnel.
• Maintain accurate production records and report on key performance indicators.
• Oversee the maintenance of cages, nets, and other lake-based equipment.
• Implement biosecurity measures to protect stock from disease.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimise production cycles.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in aquaculture, fisheries, or lake-based operations is essential.
• Strong supervisory or team leadership skills.
• Good understanding of fish biology and husbandry practices.
• Ability to work in a challenging outdoor environment on Lake Victoria.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Minimum of a Diploma in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Agriculture, or a related field.
• A valid boat riding license or willingness to train is an advantage.
