Harvest Supervisor Job at Yalelo Uganda in Butembe-Buikwe

Yalelo Uganda, a leading aquaculture enterprise, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Harvest Supervisor to join our Lake Operations team in Butembe-Buikwe. This is a full-time, senior-level position critical to ensuring the efficient and high-quality harvest of our tilapia.

In this hands-on supervisory role, you will be responsible for overseeing all harvest activities on Lake Victoria. You will lead a team to maintain our high standards of fish quality, animal welfare, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily harvest operations on the lake to meet production targets.
• Lead, train, and manage the harvest team, ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor and maintain the highest standards of fish quality, health, and welfare throughout the harvest process.
• Oversee the proper use and maintenance of harvest equipment, boats, and gear.
• Ensure strict compliance with all company safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Accurately record harvest data, including volumes, grades, and any incidents.
• Liaise with other departments like Logistics and Processing to ensure a smooth supply chain.

Requirements & Qualifications:
• Proven experience (5+ years) in a supervisory role within aquaculture, fisheries, or a related agro-processing field in Uganda.
• Strong practical knowledge of fish harvesting techniques and live fish handling.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate a team.
• Good understanding of quality control and safety standards relevant to lake operations.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment and on the water.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset.
