Job Summary

As a Laboratory Technologist at C-Care Uganda, you will be responsible for serving patients by identifying optimal specimen retrieval methods, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and performing testing procedures while strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Your role is crucial in ensuring the efficient delivery of accurate laboratory reports that support clinical decision-making.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day operational running of the laboratory department
• Perform laboratory testing procedures following established protocols
• Prepare specimens for analysis using appropriate techniques
• Identify and implement the best methods for specimen retrieval
• Maintain accurate records of tests performed and results obtained
• Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and maintained
• Follow quality control procedures to guarantee accurate test results
• Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures
• Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely delivery of laboratory reports
• Participate in continuous professional development activities

Requirements and Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognised institution
• Valid practicing license from the Allied Health Professionals Council of Uganda
• Minimum of 2 years experience working in a clinical laboratory setting
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and testing methodologies
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality
• Willingness to work flexible hours when required
