Head of Project Execution Job at Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development - Kampala

The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MFPED) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to fill the position of Head of Project Execution for the Private Sector Development Unit (PSDU) and Sustainable Public Procurement Secretariat. This is a senior leadership role based in Kampala, Uganda, offering an exceptional opportunity to drive national development initiatives and shape Uganda's economic future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the execution of all projects within the Private Sector Development Unit (PSDU) and Sustainable Public Procurement Secretariat.
• Develop and implement strategic project plans aligned with national development goals and the Ministry's mandate.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently to ensure successful delivery and value for money.
• Coordinate with various government ministries, departments, agencies, and private sector stakeholders.
• Monitor and evaluate project performance, providing regular reports to senior management and development partners.
• Build and mentor a high-performing team of project professionals.
• Ensure all procurement activities under the secretariat adhere to sustainable public procurement principles and national regulations.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• A Master's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale development projects.
• Proven track record in private sector development, public procurement, or public financial management.
• Strong understanding of Uganda's national development planning framework and public sector operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional certification in Project Management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) is a strong advantage.
