GIS and Data Officer Job in Uganda - ACTED NGO Careers

ACTED Uganda is seeking a skilled and dedicated GIS and Data Officer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to humanitarian and development projects across Uganda by managing spatial data, creating maps, and supporting evidence-based decision-making. Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, process, and analyse spatial and non-spatial data for ACTED's programmes in Uganda
• Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data quality and integrity
• Produce high-quality maps, infographics, and visualisations for reporting and project planning
• Support field teams with mobile data collection tools (like ODK or Kobo Toolbox)
• Conduct spatial analysis to identify trends, patterns, and project impacts
• Collaborate with programme teams to integrate GIS data into monitoring and evaluation frameworks
• Ensure all data management complies with ACTED's data protection policies
• Provide training and technical support to staff on GIS and data management tools

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in GIS and data management, preferably within the NGO or humanitarian sector in Uganda
• Proficiency in GIS software (QGIS or ArcGIS) and data analysis tools (Excel, SPSS, R, or Python)
• Experience with mobile data collection platforms and database management
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of local Ugandan languages is an added advantage
• Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure in dynamic environments
