Microfinance Institution Uganda, a leading provider of financial services in Western Uganda, is seeking a qualified and experienced Finance Officer to join our team in Mbarara. Job Summary
As a Finance Officer, you will be responsible for managing key financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and maintaining compliance with Ugandan financial regulations. You will play a crucial role in supporting the institution's financial health and growth in the Western Region.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Manage the budgeting process and monitor budget performance.
- Process and verify financial transactions, including payments, receipts, and journal entries.
- Ensure strict compliance with Ugandan accounting standards, tax laws, and internal policies.
- Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow effectively.
- Maintain and update the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Utilise accounting software to streamline financial operations.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support management decision-making.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised university.
- Full professional qualification: CPA (U) or ACCA certification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven work experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within the microfinance, banking, or financial services sector in Uganda.
- High proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Tally) and MS Excel.
- Strong understanding of Ugandan financial regulations and tax legislation.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
