Compassion International Uganda, a leading international NGO dedicated to child development, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our team in Kampala. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day financial operations and ensure accurate processing of all financial transactions.
- Maintain proper accounting records and ledgers in compliance with organisational policies and Ugandan financial regulations.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial reports, bank reconciliations, and budget monitoring reports.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable functions efficiently.
- Provide support for payroll processing and ensure statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF) are correctly calculated and remitted.
- Assist with internal and external audit processes and ensure all financial documentation is audit-ready.
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to department heads.
- Ensure strict compliance with Ugandan tax laws, including VAT and withholding tax regulations.
- Utilise accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills to streamline financial processes.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognised Ugandan university.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CPA (Uganda) or ACCA is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Proven proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Navision) and advanced MS Excel.
- Solid working knowledge of Ugandan tax laws, financial regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Experience working with an international NGO or donor-funded project is a significant advantage.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
