Accountant Job Opportunity at Kakira Sugar Limited - Jinja, Uganda

Kakira Sugar Limited, Uganda's leading sugar manufacturer, is seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in Jinja. This is an excellent career opportunity for a skilled accounting professional looking to grow with an established industry leader.

As our Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our financial operations and ensuring compliance with Ugandan statutory requirements. You will work with our advanced SAP system, serving 150 users across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions
• Perform reconciliation of customer accounts, vendor accounts, and bank statements using SAP
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports to support business decision-making
• Maintain export documentation and perform related reconciliations
• Ensure full compliance with Ugandan statutory requirements including VAT, Excise Duty, PAYE, Income Tax, and NSSF
• Provide efficient financial services to customers and business associates
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA) is highly preferred
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in a corporate environment
• Proficiency in SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and statutory requirements
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
