WASH Specialist Job in Gulu, Uganda - World Vision International

World Vision International, a leading Christian humanitarian and development organisation, is seeking a dedicated and experienced WASH Specialist to join our team in Gulu, Northern Uganda. This is a senior-level opportunity to lead transformative Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programmes that directly improve the lives of children, families, and communities.

In this critical role, you will provide technical leadership for the design, implementation, and monitoring of sustainable WASH projects. You will work closely with local communities, government authorities, and partner organisations to promote lasting change. Your expertise will help increase access to safe water, improve sanitation facilities, and foster positive hygiene behaviours across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership in WASH programme design, implementation, and monitoring in Northern Uganda.
• Work with communities, local government, and partners to promote sustainable WASH practices and infrastructure.
• Lead capacity-building initiatives for staff, partners, and community members.
• Manage WASH projects, ensuring timely reporting, budget adherence, and integration with other sectors like health and nutrition.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve access to safe water and sanitation facilities.
• Promote hygiene education and behaviour change communication (BCC) campaigns.
• Ensure all WASH activities meet national and international standards.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in WASH programming, preferably within a humanitarian or development context in Uganda.
• Strong technical knowledge of WASH standards (like SPHERE), approaches, and appropriate technologies for the Ugandan context.
• Demonstrated experience in community mobilisation, participatory approaches, and capacity building.
• Excellent project management, report writing, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in relevant computer software and data analysis tools.
• A genuine commitment to World Vision’s mission, vision, and core values.
