Kakira Sugar Limited (KSL), a leading sugar manufacturer and one of Uganda's premier employers, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Supervisor to join our team in Jinja. This is a critical role for ensuring the highest standards of safety, health, and environmental protection across our factories and plantation sites.

Job Purpose

To coordinate and manage the implementation of the end-to-end Safety Health Environment (SHE) system, ensuring compliance with all Ugandan legal requirements and international best practices. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Coordinate the full implementation and maintenance of the SHE management system across all assigned departments and sites.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage all internal and external safety, health, and environmental audits.
• Liaise with Heads of Department and Section Heads to conduct comprehensive hazard identification, risk assessments, and environmental impact assessments.
• Lead incident and accident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and follow-up on corrective actions.
• Develop and implement one-point lessons from incidents to prevent recurrence.
• Continuously update the SHE system with new Ugandan legal requirements and other applicable standards relevant to KSL operations.
• Support all departments in achieving safety excellence targets and key performance indicators.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certification in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is a strong advantage.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in a safety supervisory role, preferably within the manufacturing, agricultural, or industrial sector in Uganda.
• In-depth knowledge of Ugandan safety, health, and environmental legislation.
• Strong experience in conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams at all levels.
