Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on legal and regulatory frameworks affecting private sector growth in Uganda.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and position papers on findings and recommendations for reform.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and development partners to gather data and insights.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of existing reforms and their impact on the business environment.
  • Support the PSDU team in organising stakeholder consultations, workshops, and validation meetings.
  • Stay updated on regional and international best practices in legal and regulatory reforms for private sector development.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Law, Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master's degree is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in research, policy analysis, or legal advisory roles, preferably within government, a think tank, or a development organisation.
  • Strong understanding of Uganda's legal, regulatory, and business landscape.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and research software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Benefits:

  • A competitive government salary and benefits package commensurate with experience.
  • The opportunity to work at the heart of national economic policy formulation.
  • A challenging role with significant impact on Uganda's private sector development agenda.
  • Professional development opportunities within the public service.
  • A fixed-term contract position based at the Ministry headquarters in Kampala.

If you are passionate about using research to drive meaningful policy change and support Uganda's economic transformation, we encourage you to apply for this vital role.
