Project Assistant Job at Ministry of Works and Transport - Bukasa Port Project, Uganda
Job Description
The Ministry of Works and Transport Uganda is seeking a qualified and motivated Project Assistant to join the Bukasa Port Project team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major national infrastructure development project that will transform Uganda's transport and logistics sector.
As a Project Assistant, you will provide crucial administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth implementation of the Bukasa Port Project. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders in a dynamic government environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
β’ Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Bukasa Port Project management team.
β’ Assist in the preparation, filing, and management of project documents, reports, and correspondence.
β’ Help coordinate project meetings, workshops, and site visits, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
β’ Support communication between project stakeholders, contractors, and Ministry officials.
β’ Assist in monitoring project activities and timelines, helping to track progress against set targets.
β’ Manage project inventory and assist with procurement logistics as directed.
β’ Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Manager to facilitate project success.
Requirements and Qualifications:
β’ A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Project Planning, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Procurement, or a related field from a recognised institution.
β’ At least two (2) years of proven experience in project support, administration, or a similar role, preferably within the public sector or a large infrastructure project.
β’ Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
β’ Ability to work effectively in a team and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
β’ Knowledge of public sector procedures in Uganda will be an added advantage.
