The Joint Clinical Research Center (JCRC), a leading medical research institution in Uganda, is seeking a reliable and experienced Driver to join our team in Lubowa Estates, Off Entebbe Road. This is a full-time position ideal for a professional driver committed to safety, punctuality, and supporting vital healthcare and research operations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Safely operate and maintain assigned JCRC vehicles for staff transportation, research logistics, and official errands.
• Adhere strictly to all Ugandan traffic laws, regulations, and JCRC's transport policies.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections, basic maintenance checks, and ensure vehicles are clean and fuelled.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date logbooks for all trips, including mileage and fuel consumption.
• Provide timely and courteous transportation for staff, visitors, and research materials as scheduled.
• Assist with minor logistical tasks and loading/unloading of materials when required.
• Report any vehicle mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents to the transport supervisor immediately.
• Ensure the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A valid Ugandan Driving Permit (DL) with classes relevant to the organisation's fleet (e.g., B, CM, CH).
• A minimum of 5 years of proven professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, research institution, or corporate organisation.
• Excellent knowledge of Ugandan roads, particularly in the Greater Kampala area and upcountry routes.
• A clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
• Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and ability to perform minor troubleshooting.
• High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism.
• Good communication skills and a courteous demeanour.
• Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
