Quality Chemical Industries Limited (QCIL), a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Uganda, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team in Kampala. This is a full-time position offering a structured career development programme with formal training and practical professional experience aligned with our company's core priorities.
About the Role
As a Procurement Officer at QCIL, you will play a critical role in managing our supply chain and vendor relationships. You will be responsible for executing efficient procurement processes that support our mission of producing quality pharmaceuticals for the Ugandan and regional markets.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Maintain and manage the company's vendor/supplier database and relationships.
- Support procurement planning and contract management in accordance with company policies.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal (RFP), Quotations (RFQ), and Invitations to Bid.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favourable terms and competitive pricing for company supplies.
- Evaluate bids, quotations, and proposals to make sound procurement recommendations.
- Raise purchase orders for approved suppliers and ensure proper approval per the Delegation of Authority.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services to end-users.
- Maintain systematic filing and safe custody of all purchase orders, agreements, and records.
- Liaise with the finance department to ensure timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.
- Conduct regular supplier evaluation and engagement programmes focusing on compliance, delivery, and payment terms.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics from a recognised institution.
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is a strong added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a procurement function.
- Demonstrated background or knowledge in Engineering is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP is essential.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Strong adherence to cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) and Quality Management Systems.
- Must be a self-starter, flexible, and able to work well under pressure.
- Observant, creative, and innovative mindset aligned with business needs.
