National Consultant - Migrant Worker Training Programme Revision (Uganda)
Job Description
The International Labour Organization (ILO) is seeking a qualified National Consultant to revise and enhance the pre-departure orientation and training programme for Ugandan migrant workers. This critical role aims to strengthen protection mechanisms and improve working conditions for Ugandan nationals seeking employment opportunities abroad.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive review and assessment of the existing pre-departure orientation programme
- Develop updated training modules addressing current labour migration challenges
- Incorporate Ugandan context and local labour market dynamics
- Integrate international labour standards and best practices
- Design monitoring and evaluation frameworks for programme effectiveness
- Collaborate with relevant government ministries and stakeholders
- Ensure cultural sensitivity and gender mainstreaming in all materials
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Advanced degree in Social Sciences, Labour Relations, Migration Studies or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in labour migration, capacity building or training development
- Proven expertise in curriculum development and training material preparation
- Strong understanding of Uganda's labour migration landscape and challenges
- Experience working with international organizations or government agencies
- Excellent research, analytical and report-writing skills
- Familiarity with ILO standards and conventions on labour migration
