Logistics Assistant NGO Job in Moyo, Uganda - Medical Teams International
Job Description
Medical Teams International is seeking a dedicated and skilled Logistics Assistant to join our humanitarian team at our Moyo field office in Uganda. This is an excellent opportunity for a logistics professional to contribute to life-saving medical programmes in the West Nile region.
As a Logistics Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our supply chain, directly supporting our health interventions for refugees and host communities. You will be responsible for managing essential resources that enable our medical teams to deliver critical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage warehouse operations and maintain accurate inventory records for medical and non-medical supplies.
- Process and track procurement requests in accordance with NGO and donor guidelines.
- Maintain a comprehensive asset register and ensure proper tracking of all organisation equipment.
- Coordinate transportation and vehicle fleet management for staff and supplies.
- Support the maintenance of office facilities and guest houses.
- Prepare timely and accurate logistics reports for the field coordinator.
- Ensure all logistics activities comply with Medical Teams International and donor policies.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven logistics experience, preferably within an NGO or humanitarian setting.
- Practical knowledge of inventory management systems and procedures.
- Experience in vehicle fleet management and coordination.
- Strong computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure in a field environment.
- Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Madi, Arabic) is an added advantage.
