Job Description

Medical Teams International is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health Program Manager to lead our humanitarian health programmes in the Hoima region, Uganda. This is a senior-level opportunity for a public health professional passionate about improving healthcare delivery for refugee and host communities in Uganda's Midwest.

As a leading international humanitarian organisation, Medical Teams International provides life-saving medical care to people affected by conflict, disaster, and disease. In Uganda, we work closely with the Ministry of Health, UNHCR, and other partners to deliver essential health services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the overall implementation and quality of health service delivery in the Hoima programme area.
  • Manage and monitor programme budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and donor compliance.
  • Provide strong leadership, supervision, and mentorship to a multidisciplinary health team.
  • Coordinate effectively with district health authorities, UN agencies, and other NGO partners.
  • Lead the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of programme outcomes and impact.
  • Ensure all health activities meet national and international quality of care standards.
  • Prepare timely programme reports for donors and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • A Medical Degree (MBChB) or a Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in health programme management within humanitarian or development settings.
  • Prior experience managing refugee health programmes in Uganda or the East African region is a strong advantage.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, team management, and capacity building.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
