Health and Nutrition Coordinator Job in Arua, Uganda - World Vision
Job Description
World Vision International Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Nutrition Coordinator to join our team in Arua. This is a senior-level opportunity to lead and coordinate critical health and nutrition programmes that directly impact the wellbeing of children, mothers, and communities in the West Nile region.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the implementation of our maternal and child health, nutrition, and disease prevention activities. You will ensure our programmes are delivered effectively, build the capacity of local health workers, and foster integration with other key sectors like WASH and livelihoods. This position is ideal for a public health professional passionate about creating sustainable change in Uganda.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Coordinate and oversee the implementation of all health and nutrition programmes in the assigned region.
- Provide technical guidance on maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), nutrition, and disease prevention activities.
- Build the capacity of community health workers and local partners through training and mentorship.
- Ensure all programme activities align with Uganda's Ministry of Health policies, guidelines, and donor requirements.
- Monitor programme performance, prepare reports, and ensure accountability for donor-funded projects.
- Foster strong collaboration and integration with other World Vision sectors and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- A Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, or a closely related field. A Master's degree is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in health and nutrition programming within an NGO or similar development setting in Uganda.
- In-depth knowledge of Uganda's national health policies, strategies, and community health systems.
- Demonstrated experience in staff capacity building, training, and facilitation.
- Strong project coordination, report writing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Prior experience managing donor-funded projects (e.g., USAID, UN, other institutional donors).
- Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of local languages in the West Nile region is an asset.
