Head of Project Execution Career Opportunity
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MFPED) is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic professional to fill the critical role of Head of Project Execution in Kampala, Uganda. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of major government projects that drive Uganda's national development agenda.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the planning, execution, and monitoring of key national projects under the Ministry's portfolio.
- Develop and implement robust project management frameworks, methodologies, and standards to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of project managers and execution specialists, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Coordinate with various government ministries, departments, agencies (MDAs), development partners, and contractors to ensure seamless project implementation.
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, and deliverables, identifying and mitigating risks proactively.
- Prepare and present comprehensive project progress reports to senior management, stakeholders, and development partners.
- Ensure all projects comply with Government of Uganda regulations, donor requirements, and international best practices.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in senior project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing large-scale, complex projects.
- Professional certification in Project Management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, PMI) is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering multi-million UGX projects on time and within budget, preferably within the public sector or with development partners.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a deep understanding of the Ugandan public sector context.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to national service.
