Construction Project Manager - Water Treatment Plant in Isingiro District, Uganda

The Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS), a leading humanitarian organisation established in 1964, is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to manage the construction of additional components for the Misiera Water Treatment Plant in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Isingiro District. This is a critical project aimed at improving water access and sanitation for vulnerable communities.

We are looking for a dedicated Project Manager to oversee all construction phases, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to technical specifications, and compliance with humanitarian and Ugandan construction standards. Key Responsibilities & Duties:
• Manage the entire construction project lifecycle for the Misiera Water Treatment Plant expansion.
• Develop and implement detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Supervise contractors, suppliers, and on-site construction teams to ensure quality workmanship.
• Ensure strict compliance with engineering designs, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Coordinate with URCS programme teams, local authorities, and community stakeholders in Nakivale Settlement.
• Prepare and submit regular progress reports, including financial and technical updates.
• Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks throughout the construction period.
• Manage project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.

Requirements & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience managing water infrastructure or similar construction projects in Uganda, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Professional registration with the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan building codes, public health engineering, and contract management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• Commitment to the principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
