Construction Project Manager for Water Treatment Plant in Isingiro District, Uganda
Job Description
The Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS), a leading humanitarian organisation established in 1964, is seeking a qualified and experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee the construction of additional components for the Misiera Water Treatment Plant in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Isingiro District. This is a critical project aimed at improving water access and sanitation for vulnerable communities.
This is a rewarding opportunity to apply your construction and project management skills to a vital humanitarian cause. You will be responsible for ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Manage all aspects of the construction project for the Misiera Water Treatment Plant expansion.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Supervise contractors, suppliers, and on-site construction teams.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with Ugandan building codes, safety regulations, and URCS standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance checks.
- Prepare and submit timely progress reports to URCS management and stakeholders.
- Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and partners in Nakivale Refugee Settlement.
- Manage project procurement and logistics for construction materials.
- Identify and mitigate potential project risks and delays.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience managing construction projects in Uganda, preferably in water infrastructure or community development.
- Professional certification from the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Uganda is a strong advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of Ugandan construction standards and regulations.
- Excellent project management, budgeting, and reporting skills.
- Strong leadership and team supervision abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Commitment to the humanitarian principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment like Nakivale Refugee Settlement.
