Child Protection Specialist Job in Kampala - World Vision Uganda

World Vision International Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Protection Specialist to join our team in Kampala. This is a fixed-term, full-time position offering a unique opportunity to provide technical leadership and make a lasting impact on child protection programming across Uganda.

Job Summary
The Child Protection Specialist will provide strategic technical guidance, capacity building, and oversight for all child protection initiatives. You will ensure our programmes align with Uganda's national child protection laws, policies, and international safeguarding standards, directly contributing to the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and scaling of child protection programming.
- Develop, review, and contextualise child protection policies, guidelines, and tools for the Uganda context.
- Build the capacity of World Vision staff, local partners, and community structures in child protection principles and practices.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on child protection interventions to ensure quality and impact.
- Represent World Vision in national and district-level child protection forums, networks, and with government bodies.
- Champion and ensure strict adherence to child safeguarding standards across all operations.
- Provide technical support during assessments and emergency responses related to child protection.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Child Development, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in child protection programming, preferably within Uganda or the East African region.
- Strong, demonstrable knowledge of Uganda's child protection legal framework, policies (including the Children Act), and national systems.
- Proven experience working with vulnerable children, families, and communities.
- Excellent training, facilitation, and mentorship skills for diverse audiences.
- Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including government, NGOs, and community leaders.
