The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Uganda is seeking a dedicated and skilled Associate Programme Officer to join our team in Kampala. This is a vital role within our mission to protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities, and stateless people in Uganda. You will contribute directly to implementing protection and solutions strategies that change lives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide programmatic guidance and support for the implementation of UNHCR's protection and solutions strategies within Uganda.
• Coordinate with other sections and units (Protection, Field, Admin) to ensure harmonised programmatic approaches throughout the Operations Management Cycle.
• Work closely with multi-functional teams (MFT) and a wide range of partners, including government institutions, NGOs, the private sector, and persons of concern.
• Support programme management in line with UNHCR's Strategic Directions, Global Strategic Priorities (GSPs), and the Global Compact for Refugees (GCR).
• May supervise a small team of local staff, providing mentorship and support.
• Ensure all programme activities align with UNHCR's Programme Manual, operation plans, and relevant institutional rules and regulations.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A university degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in programme management, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector in Uganda or the East African region.
• Proven experience in coordination, planning, and working with diverse partners.
• Strong understanding of results-based management and the programme cycle.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills in English. Knowledge of other local languages in Uganda is an asset.
• Commitment to the humanitarian principles and the mandate of UNHCR.
