Jumia Uganda is seeking a dynamic Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead our commercial strategy and operations. This is a senior executive role for a visionary leader passionate about harnessing technology to transform Uganda's digital marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall commercial strategy for Jumia Uganda to drive revenue growth and market leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and expand the commercial department, including sales, business development, and vendor management teams.
  • Oversee the performance of the Jumia Marketplace, optimising seller acquisition, category growth, and customer experience.
  • Forge strategic partnerships with major brands, SMEs, and key stakeholders in the Ugandan business ecosystem.
  • Analyse market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscape to identify new commercial opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Jumia Logistics and JumiaPay teams to create a seamless end-to-end customer journey.
  • Drive the adoption of JumiaPay and other financial services products within the Ugandan market.
  • Prepare and manage the commercial budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for maximum return.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA or Master's is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive commercial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role (CCO, Commercial Director, VP Sales).
  • Proven track record of driving significant revenue growth in the Ugandan or East African market, preferably in e-commerce, retail, FMCG, or technology.
  • Deep understanding of the Ugandan digital and consumer landscape.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience building and managing high-performance teams.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
